The Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW) encourages the most able young people to consider engineering as a career.
How does the Scheme Work? The scheme has been operating in Wales since 1989. Each year a professional engineer from a link company works with a team of up to six, high ability Year 12/13 students and their teacher for a period of 5-6 months on a real engineering project. The scheme provides a launch, a university workshop and an awards and presentation day. The project can also be managed on-line (for details click here)
Which Students Participate in the Scheme? Each year EESW helps roughly 400 students from all over Wales participate. Approximately 30% are female, all have high GCSE grades and the majority are taking mathematics and physics at A Level. In past years the majority of students have gone on to read engineering, science and technology related degrees.
What Does the Scheme Do for Students? The benefits for the student include experience of teamwork, problem solving, personal development and eligibility for further support programmes from the Royal Academy of Engineering.
How can I Get Involved with EESW? To take part in an EESW project, you will need permission from your school and your parents or guardian and to register your personal details with EESW. To register click on the link on this page. |
